23rd Blog Post; The Road Trip up North

To get to our second country club we decided to take a road trip up north to Connecticut.

Road Trip:

Road trip from Florida - Connecticut, this was one of my best decisions since being out in America, it was a great way to have a short stop in various states.

Day 1: Left Palm Beach Gardens and arrived to Savannah, which is located in Georgia. We went to a South African restaurant, (this was influenced, by all the South Africans we worked with at Admirals Cove). Walked around Forsyth Park, we then drove to Atlanta.

Atlanta. We went to the Atlanta skyline on the first night and a walk round centennial park this was the olympic Park, and then to Krog Street Market, a cool market place with food options.

Day 2: We were up every day at 7am or earlier. We drove to Rock city and walked around there, very beautiful to see the Lovers Leap, you can see this online. We then drove to Lynchburg to look at the Jack Daniels Distillery. After here we visited Nashville. I wish we had more time in Nashville than just a night, especially because I wanted to find some Cow boy boots, but you can’t have everything, especially when we had a time limit on the road trip. We stayed that night in a place just out of Nashville.

Day 3: This day we did a lot of driving. We visited the sliding rock in north Carolina, it is a naturally smooth rock you slide down, once was enough for me because the water was absolutely freezing!!

Day 4: We visited Washington D.C, this was I think my second favourite place, we visited the Lincoln memorial, WWII memorial, the White House, said hello to Trump, and finished it off with a visit to one of the Smithsonions ( the museums). We were very lucky, because we all wanted to visit the African American Museum, but you needed to book a time slot online. A random woman in the street gave us tickets for that time. It was very interesting taking you back in time through the slave trade, unfortunately we had to rush it due to time and getting to Philadelphia in time. Grandad I feel you would love Washington, but we would have to give you 4 days in each museum available. Eventually we got to Philadelphia and visited the Liberty One observation Deck. In the morning we came back in to the city and visited the Rocky steps, the liberty bell and Reading Market, as well as getting a Philly Cheese Steak.

Day 5: We stayed in Princeton and went for breakfast in the morning before we all headed off the to the country club.

There were some sharp slams on the break but this was expected after travelling 2,364 miles, doing 8 stops, with 8 suitcases, over 6 days, and 5 nights, with 4 girls, and 1 car’s worth of travelling.

All of us girls were very glad to have done this road trip, despite being very tired from it, it was such a good way to see America, and I would advise this to any one else.
