9th Blog Post; Polynesian BBQ & Bottomless Mimosas

My first Section;

This past week I was given my first shift with my first section in GV on a lunch time. I counted this as my first shift because, it was in my designated restaurant. I enjoyed this shift, but it didn't come without it's hiccups. I was serving a large table of very particular ladies, who ordered certain dishes that weren't on the menu, however my co-workers helped me greatly. The day after my shift went a lot more smoother and I think I just had to ask once for help from a team member, this gave me a large confidence boost. I really love GV and the more I have been working there the happier I become. One particular area that I need to work on though is the knowledge of the menu still, but as I know the menu is going to be changing in the next week, I'm not too worried about this particular menu. I will focus more on the new menu especially because I know there shall be more items.

Polynesian BBQ;

This week I worked a Polynesian BBQ as a private event at GV for a company celebrating how long they've been doing business. I enjoyed working this event and seeing how a different type of event is put together and how outside companies work along side Admirals cove. Throughout the event there was a Pig Ceremony, celebrating the pig that they will be eating, Hawaiian Dancers a fire show and a band. Throughout this event I handed out hors d'oeuvres, sorted tables, helped served drinks and conversed with members, I also had a dab hand in flower arranging with the spare flowers left over to decorate the table. I shall now add flower arranging to my skills on linked inn. I also helped the decoration company with their props used throughout the event. I felt the event was well put together and the staff members of the company throughly enjoyed it. It is always nice to see members enjoy events especially members who are creating events for their own staff.

Bottomless Mimosas;

Throughout this week on my days off we went down to West Palm on Sunday for brunch. We went to City cellar in West Palm, the restaurant had a chilled atmosphere and our server was extremely generous with the mimosas which made it an extremely enjoyable trip. We will be returning to the restaurant on a day we all have off together. After our brunch we went and got frozen yoghurt and sat out in the sun, a day well spent. Later on in the evening we went to Roxy's which was extremely busy.

Difference in Blü & GV;

Throughout my time working I have experienced work in GV and Blü; I have enjoyed working in both, but I would say there is an incredible difference between the both of these restaurants. Blü is extreme fine dining with I feel a more refined menu in comparison to GV. I would say GV has a more relaxed and laid back atmosphere whilst serving delicious food in a gorgeous location. Both restaurants have lovely views, Blü has views of the Marina and GV the golf course and water features. Blü's dining room is extremely large which was one of the things I didn't enjoy about it as I felt I had to rush more to find things, leading me to get a little more stressed. However, despite all of this both of the dinning halls are extremely lovely and have lovely atmosphere's.
